Scott Steckly Racing

Kamloops, BC, Monday July 15, 2013:
Scott Steckly and his 22 Racing/Canadian Tire Dodge team will leave the Vernon area today and make their way to Saskatoon for Wednesdays running of the Velocity Prairie Thunder 250.

Wednesday’s event at Auto Clearing Motor Speedway will wind up the two race NASCAR Canadian Tire Series Western road swing with Steckly hot off the win at Motoplex and looking for the sweep. Steckly will again field three teams with full time driver L.P. Dumoulin the current Championship point’s leader and Kamloops native Jim White. All three drivers finished in the top five at Motoplex Speedway a feat that has not likely been done before.

“I always enjoy coming here,” said Steckly today. “We just don’t have as good a results here as some other places but I will always remember 2009 when we lost a motor in practice and started at the rear of the field, then went on to win it. It was very gratifying. While we hope to win again on Wednesday here, we can do without having to make the motor switch,” he laughingly added.

Saskatoon is a favorite stop on the schedule for a lot of the teams including Steckly. “The fans here are amazing, the grandstands are always packed and they are so enthusiastic. Hopefully we can put on a good show for them.”

The Velocity Prairie Thunder 250 is the sixth event of the twelve race NASCAR Canadian Tire Series season and Steckly finds himself in 4th in the National Championship standings just fourteen points out of the top spot currently held by his team mate L.P. Dumoulin. “This just goes to show you should never give up,” said Steckly. “We had two bad races to start the season and we were back somewhere around 20th in the points but after stringing three good races together we have the Canadian Tire team back in the running for top spot.” Steckly recorded a 24th place finish at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park and a 21st at Delaware but went on to post back to back seconds at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park the Speedway and Circuit ICAR and the win at Motoplex and now they are back in the hunt for the top spot.

Prior to Wednesday’s event, Scott Steckly and his 22 Canadian Tire Dodge will appear at Stonebridge Co Op on Wellman Crescent for a Johnsonville BBQ and on Tuesday from 3 – 6 p.m. Stop out for a free Johnsonville Brat and Scott will be signing autographs.
