Scott Steckly Racing

Bowmanville, ON– May. 20, 2012:
The 22 Racing/Canadian Tire Dodge team set the bar high early during Saturday’s first practice session at newly renamed Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, when they posted a time of 1:24.15, nearly 810th of a second faster than the second quickest driver. During the second practice session, the 22 Dodge would continue to be on top of the leader board.

Qualifying took place later in the afternoon under the hot sun and everyone was surprised that times were even quicker than the practice times posted earlier in the day. Steckly would again post the top times in his Canadian Tire entry and earn the Pole starting position for Sunday’s Vortex Brake Pads 200.

Being 2 for 2 on the weekend with the fastest times in practice and qualifying, nothing but a win for the 2011 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series Champion in the 200 lap main event would satisfy Steckly and his team. Steckly has a handful of second place finishes on the road courses but has yet to post a win at any of the 5 road course venues.

The race was dominated by four drivers, including Steckly. He made a pass for the lead late in the 52 lap event, but contact after the pass pushed him back to fourth. A battle ensued and the 22 driver came back to post a 3rd place podium finish.

Next up for the 22 Racing/Canadian Tire Dodge team will be Circuit ICAR in Montreal on June 2/3. Steckly will again attempt to post that elusive win on a road course.
