Steckly and Canadian Tire confirm partnership for 2015
In 14 seasons in Canada’s top stock car racing series Scott Steckly has won just about everything.
He is the only three time winner of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series championship and has amassed 17 victories in the NCTS and its predecessor, the CASCAR Super Series. the NCTS and its predecessor, the CASCAR Super Series.
During that span Steckly has 78 top five finishes, 109 top 10 finishes and 13 pole positions.
The most amazing stat, however – that marks just how great a racer Steckly has been – is the 3,739 laps he has led in the past eight seasons.
To put that into perspective the No. 22 Dodge with Steckly behind the wheel led almost a quarter of all laps raced in those eight seasons.
And he has won at just about every track on the circuit from Vernon’s MotoplexSpeedway in British Columbia to Riverside International Speedway in Antigonish, Nova Scotia.
And as the green flag is set to drop to start the 2015 NCTS season next month at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park for the Victoria Day Weekend Speedfest, Steckly and the No. 22 Racing team are in fighting trim to make a run for a fourth championship.
When Canadian Tire announced last month that it was ending its title sponsorship of the national stock car series at the end of this season, it was reported that could affect their long time partnership with Steckly.
However, the familiar Canadian Tire logo will be back on the No. 22 Dodge for the entire 2015 season.
The news will not affect his building and maintaining race cars for Alex Tagliani and the No. 18 EpiPen Dodge team.
In a team release last month Steckly said he appreciates his long association with Canadian Tire and looks forward to it continuing.
“I am really proud to have represented Canadian Tire for the past six years,” he said. “My cars are all ready to go."
“With Canadian Tire’s help we are continuing to work with their vendor community to form partnerships for 2015 and beyond.”
